Burgos to Hontanas
Tmans passes a prison, many highways and a rail line on his way to Tardejos. He hikes through Rabe de las Calzadas and Hornillos then he encounters rain and wind near San Bol. Tman eventually finds Hontanas down in a hole. He visits the very beautiful church there.
Hontanas to Boadilla del Real Camino
Tman hikes through the San Anton Arch in the dark. Then he proceeds through Castroriz and goes up Alto de Mostelares. What an amazing place. Then on the other side, Tman visits San Nicolas for very little Italian coffee and he sees a great mural in Itero de los Vega before finishing the day at Boadilla del Camino
Boadilla del Real Camino To Carrion de los Condes
Tman hikes from Boadilla to Carrion. He goes through the bigger town of Fromista plus several smaller towns. He manages to see some Tee Pees along the way. He explores the town of Carrion de los Condes, and goes to mass during the evening.
Carrion de los Condes to Terradillos de los Templarios
Tman hikes from Carrion to Terradillos going through a 17 km (11 mile) stretch of camino with no town.
But there are two food truck along that stretch. Then Tman hikes through Calzadilla, then loses the
trail in Ledigos and has to walk down a road to reconnect. He manages to sleep on a floor mat in
Terrradillos. Tman walks around the town and visits a church with a diorama scene.
Terradillos de los Templarios to Bercianos del Real Camino
Tman heads out of Bercianos in the dark. He hikes through Moratinos then gets a snack in St Martin. He hikes next to a highway with no traffic for a long ways then The Way goes away from the highway to a Church and the Half Way Monument. He stops with friends and takes photos. Then they all head into Sahagun for brunch. After Sahagun, The Way continues on for miles next to the road, again. Then Tman finally makes it into Bercianos where he gets a bed at the Casa Rectoral. He looks around town then leads the group in a song at the communal supper.
Bercianos to Villarente
Tman hikes through the 12.7 km stretch of the way that doesn’t have any services then he goes through Reliegos, Mansilla and Villamoros on his way to Villarente. He couldn’t find a bed in Mansilla and was considering taking a bus into Leon. But then he heard from the Michigan couple that they called and got a bed in Villarente. So, Tman called and did the same. That added another 6 km to the hike that day. Please note that Tman has now heard that the Municipal Albergue in Mansilla will reopen in 2023. Please confirm that before you hike it.
Puente Villarente to Leon
Short day into Leon because Tman hiked all the way to Puente Villarente the day before. Tman gets breakfast then hikes through the modern suburb of Puente Villarente. Then he hikes through a few other towns on his way to Leon. He works his way through the streets of Leon to get to the Albergue. Then, after freshening up, he goes out and explores the city including visiting the Cathedral. He finishes off the evening at a gathering of pilgrims at the Plaza Torres Omana.
